The first episode of our new format! Yay! This week, we’re covering She’s All That, as mentioned in our Dump Month episode, and Fighting with my Family! She’s All That is an iconic 1999 rom-com starring Freddie Prinze Jr. and Rachel Leigh Cook, and you can watch along with us on HBO Max (or rent on Amazon Prime). Fighting with my Family is a WWE-produced movie about the early career of one of the most famous women wrestlers of all time, Paige! It’s also Florence Pugh’s first really big role (and has a star-studded cast besides). We watched it on DVD, but you can also check it out on Prime Video and Hulu.

This week, we watched the original Scream (1996) and the brand new Monsterverse installment, Godzilla vs. Kong (2021)! This is Jackson’s first time seeing Scream, directed by Wes Craven and starring Neve Campbell, Courtney Cox, and the incomparable Matthew Lillard. And this was EVERYONE’S first time seeing Godzilla vs. Kong, directed by Adam Wingard and starring… mostly just Godzilla and King Kong. There’s actually a little bit of a plot, and we have both analysis and some fun trivia for you!

This week, we’re the original 1995 Mortal Kombat movie in preparation for the new one AND the HBO docuseries McMillion$. Both are very ‘90s-centric. Mortal Kombat is getting a new film coming out NOW on HBO, and McMillion$ is about the famous McDonald’s Monopoly game that is getting a new life after its mob-ridden scandal of the ‘90s and early 2000s.

This week, we watched the 2020 horror movie Spree and the 2018 horror movie No Escape Room… big week for the genre! But that’s not all they have in common- both of these movies were fairly small budget projects, and only one of them really felt like it. Both of these movies also aren’t that well-known! While Spree has some decently big stars (and some very famous producers, at least in the hip hop world), it hasn’t been all over Twitter as one may expect. It’s about a Spree driver (like Uber or Lyft) who starts murdering riders to go viral. Thankfully, most of them are jerks. No Escape Room is pretty self-explanatory. You’re not really meant to escape this game. Thanks for listening!
